"Overwhelmed" Rose George Plaster, Milk 10/2016
Instead of plaster strips, the college-level sculpture class at my school takes plaster to the next level. I started with a half-gallon sized block of pure, hardened plaster, and chiseled away. I created the piece not to copy a human figure, but to create a sculpture about one. I imagined a person curling up into their knees with their arms folded around their head, but some also see a back-bend in the opposite direction. I poured milk over it at the end, so when the liquid evaporated, the proteins left behind gave it a shinier presentation.
