My Headphones

Drawing my headphones sitting on a desk was one of the first times I had decided to draw something from direct observation rather than a photograph. I found an object that was simple enough for a first direct drawing, but still had some details and a unique shadow.

Dragon Robot of Doom

I enjoy coming up with characters, and this is one I'm very proud of just because of the incredible detail. I also decided to do some cross hatching for shading. The only non-metal parts of this dragon are the fabric on the wings, and the blue LED light in its eye.

I wanted to provide a closer shot of the Dragon Robot so the detail is more visible.

Tempera Paint

Blossom Bird was my introduction to pointillism, as well as a project that deepened my understanding of shading and color. Underneath the colors of the piece are complimentary colors, which I let show in very small amounts in order to make the green, brown, and pink pop out more. The most visible out of the complimentary colors is probably the yellow-green behind the pink flowers.

This sculpture was one of my pieces from Art Spectrum, and was my first encounter with plaster. To construct the skeleton I used wire, and wrapped in in tinfoil and tape. Then I covered it in layers of plaster strips. Finally, I painted it and glued yarn on for the hair. Instead of doing a figure standing or running, I took the liberty to have my figure doing something active and unique, so I had it stand on its hands instead of its feet.

I simply drew one of the cutest breeds of dogs. The neck and rest of the body is unfinished so the focus is still on the face and the eyes.

Bedroom Sketch

For this drawing I just picked up my sketchbook, sat in the corner of my bedroom, and drew what I saw. I decided to use darker shades of pencils to make the main objects like the bed, chair, and desk stand out, and then I used lighter shades for things like the blinds, the windowsill with nail polish, and the camera on the desk..
